Conference information

Location

Conference activities will be centered in Preservation Park, which features colorfully restored turn-of-the-century buildings set among lush gardens, just steps away from Oakland's City Center and the 12th Street BART Station. Full group sessions will be held in Nile Hall. Additional meeting areas and child care will be located next door at the beautifully restored First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th Street at Castro. Both locations are wheelchair accessible.

By car: Exit the 980 (Downtown Oakland) freeway at 11th/12th Street exit, go two blocks east on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

By BART: Get off at the 12th Street/City Center Station, exit 13th St., walk west three blocks and enter the park on 13th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Parking

Friday: Available at City Center West Garage. Early-bird all-day rate (before 9:30 am) is $10 (cash only). Enter at Jefferson or Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 12th Street. Additional surface lots are available at 11th and Jefferson and at 15th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Saturday: Free parking available in the surface lot at 11th and Jefferson Streets. Exit through pedestrian gate at 12th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

 

Lodging

We have reserved a limited number of dormitory-style accommodations at the CTWO Retreat Center in Oakland, available for $23/person. Contact AAC at 510-444-7136 or email aac@4children.org to find out about availability. To reserve a space, you must register by October 10, 2003 - first-come, first-served. The lodging sign-up is on the second page of the online registration form. Scholarships are available. For more information about the center, visit www.ctwo.org/

Registration Fees

Priority registration (before September 17)

Regular Registration (between September 17 and October 10)

Your registration fee covers conference materials, continental breakfast and lunch for two days, Friday reception, and participation in all conference proceedings. Free child care and simultaneous translation provided with advance registration. Final Registration Deadline: October 10, 2003

 

Child Care

Oakland Ready to Learn, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the development of Oakland's youngest residents, will provide free, high-quality child care and early learning activities for children of conference participants.

The child care program will be available to children under 12 at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, next door to the main meeting areas. Advance registration is required, limited to 35 children. To reserve a space, you must complete the child care section on the registration form by October 10, 2003.

A limited number of scholarships are available for emerging parent and youth leaders. Please call 510-444-7136 or email aac@4children.org

 

Cancellations or changes

Requests for refunds must be made in writing and received by October 10, 2003. A handling charge of $15 will be applied. No refunds after this date. Refunds will be issued within 90 days after the conference. Please make any substitutions for registered attendees in writing or email by October 10, 2003. Confirmation will be made by email, fax, or mail.
