Our Children, Our Future is a unique opportunity to listen to,
and dialogue with, leaders in the children's advocacy movement in California.
Action Alliance for Children,
The United Way of the Bay Area, The
Commonwealth Club, and Providian
Financial are collaborating to create a season of presentations and
discussion on key issues affecting children and families throughout the
state.

Presenters: Paul Orfalea, Founder of Kinko's Inc. and Anne Wilson, CEO,
United Way of the Bay Area
Paul Orfalea -- founder of Kinko's Inc. and the head of the Orfalea Family
Foundation, focused on early care and education issues and family-friendly
business policies -- along with Anne Wilson -- CEO of the United Way of
the Bay Area, the largest private funder of community services in the
7-county Bay Area -- will present information and lead a discussion on
being a family-friendly business and good corporate citizen in today's
economy. The speakers will discuss current trends in family-friendly businesses
and corporate citizenship as well as highlight the benefits.

Mark Friedman, the Executive Director of the Alameda County Prop 10 Commission,
and Rob Reiner (tentative), actor, director, and the founding force behind
Proposition 10, will share the current status of the work related to early
childhood development. Nearly two years into the implementation, we will
hear how the work in counties throughout the state is improving the lives
of children.

and community

Network, a longtime leader in the child care arena in California, and
a prominent Bay Area state legislator will discuss the proposed state
budget cuts in child care programming and how the changes will affect
you. The speakers will also explore what it takes to get the attention
of elected officials to encourage public investment in children.
