Keywords

  • All: results will be web pages that include all of the keywords entered -- for example, entering "child care" will bring up pages that contain both words.

  • Any: results will be web pages that include at least one of the keywords entered -- for example, entering "child care" will bring up pages that contain either word.

  • Boolean: allows you to use "not," "or," and/or "and" between two keywords:.

    • "Not" will exclude the second keyword from your search -- for example, entering "child not care" will bring up pages that contain the word "child" but not the word "care."

    • "Or" will bring up both pages that contain either keyword -- for example entering "child or care" will bring up pages that contain "child" and pages that contain "care"

    • "And" will bring up pages that contain both keywords -- for example, entering "child care" will bring up pages that contain both words.

    • You can also use parentheses to combine terms to further customize your search -- for example "child and (care or development)" will bring up pages that contain both "child" and "development" and pages that contain "child" and "care."

Show results

  • Long: shows the titles of web pages in which the search term appears, along with a small block of text that highlights where the first search term first appears.

  • Short: shows only the titles of web pages in which the search term appears.

Sort results

  • Score: sorts results by "best matches" -- starting with the best matches

  • Time: sorts results by the date the web pages were last modified -- starting with the most recent

  • Title: sorts results by the titles of the web pages -- starting with A

  • Reverse score: sorts results by the "best matches" -- starting with the least likely matches

  • Reverse time: sorts results by the date the web pages were last modified -- starting with the oldest

  • Reverse title: sorts results by the title of the web pages -- starting with Z.
